Like a "Bridge" Over Troubles Waters 100th!!

The Toronto Rebels played round 7 against the demons on Saturday which was a momentous game for one of our senior players.

Marc Roche aka Bridgy joined the Rebels in 2008 and Saturday saw him take to the field for his 100th game which is a huge achievement for any player within AFL Ontario.

The big man usually dons the 66 number and it was lucky number 6 as he bagged a hat full of goals on his big day in front of his friends and family.

The rebels got off to a good start with big Henry aka King tapping from the centre and feeding buddy and new starter Heath o Farrell who fed the forwards for several goals in the first quarter

Rebels 5 goals 1 lead To demons 1 goal

The second half was much of the same for the Rebels who used the ball well around the middle and defended any attack with ease led by Philty, Dre and Shally at the back

Some good tackles around the middle from that man o Farrell leading to some big goals

Hands or Hans as he is sometimes referred to picking up the crumbs from Spencer’s contests feeding Wizza, Fabs and Bridgy for some more rebel goals extending their quarter time lead significantly

Rebels 9 goals 2 behinds
Demons 1 goals 1 behind

The third quarter the rebels pushed further into the lead following solid structure set ups and some intensity from the likes of Stokesy, Ali, the tackle machine jimmy and goals from Duffy, bridge and buddy

Rebels lead at 3/4 time

13 goals 5 behinds to the demons 2 goals 1 behind

The final quarter the Rebels finished off the contest with goals across their half forward line and the bridge finishing his day with 6 goals from full forward. Honourable Mentions to Ronan, Sam, Matty, the swan and the rest of the mids for attacking the contest with some zeal not seen by the Rebels this season.

Across the defence the guys played well and stayed alert when called into action.

The rebels won handsomely in the end on what was a great day for bridge, the club and his family and friends

Next week the Rebels play Guelph who will prove to be a much tougher contest as it comes into the latter end of the season
