Mid week smash up at Humber

Toronto Rebels vs. Dingos

Quarter One
The Rebels had an uncommon Wednesday night game to make up for an earlier round in the season. The strange time for Rebels seemed to work well for them as they came out flying in the first quarter. The midfield was dominant through every possession. Buddy and Browny in the forward line were taking mark after mark and the Dingo’s had no answer for the onslaught from the Rebs. Buddy is still learning the Rebels structures but he did well in his first game ever up front. The Rebels backline didn’t see much of it this quarter but they stood strong any time it came down their way.

6.4. 40 to 1.0. 6 at the end of the quarter

Quarter Two

The Dingo’s didn’t roll over and responded well in the second quarter. The Rebels were still dominant but it was much more contested footy. Fabs did his thing up front and slotted a couple of nice goals. Shally came streaming in and had some great contests that lead to 2 goals as well. The Rebels kept their foot on the gas and really kept the pressure on leading into half time.

9.8. 62 to 2.1. 13 at half time

Quarter Three

The Rebels have had some slow starts to third quarters in the past but this was not the case in this game. Coach Bodz moved some players around to try out different positions but the Rebels remained dominant. Bodz 2.0 continued to destroy in the ruck which set the midfield up for some great disposals into the forward line. Again the Dingo’s weren’t getting much of it and only got what the Rebels gave them. A free kick allowed them to get set up for another goal but that was all they had. The Rebels were rolling going into the fourth.

12.11. 83 to 3.2. 20 at three quarter time

Quarter Four

Vice Captain Philthy gave a great pep talk going into the fourth and the Rebels really responded. The forward line kept so much pressure on the Dingo’s that they couldn’t get the ball out of their back line. The Rebels were relentless. A few more goals were tacked on by Rex, Wizard and Bridge and before you knew it the game was done. This is the kind of footy we’ve been waiting to see from the Rebels. Each line was dominant and each player took every contested possession and one on one battle personally. Even if every opportunity wasn’t scored on it was great to see this kind of pressure from the Rebels.

15.19. 109 to 3.2. 20 Final Time

Being tied in the standings with the Dingo’s the rebels clearly wanted to put a stamp on this game and show they can compete with the top teams in the comp.
