Redditch United Academy in good shape ahead of new season

1 week ago By Tom Henman

Academy continuing to create pathway to first-team

Redditch United Academy Director, David Faulkner, says he has been “impressed” with the application and improvements shown by players throughout pre-season so far.

Pre-season is well underway, with a number of friendlies already taken place, including an 8-4 victory for Redditch United Reserves over Feckenham Reserves at The TRICO Stadium. The under 18s and under 19s have also been in action.

Faulkner believes the addition of several first-team players in the reserves’ win was invaluable and spells out the plan for some of the senior Academy players this season: “For our academy players to be joined by members of the senior squad was a great experience for them – it will assist with their development this season.

“The plan for academy members of the reserve side is to give them the opportunity to test themselves at senior level and be better prepared for first-team football at Redditch United. Some took part in first-team pre-season, which, again, will help their development.”
