Redditch United is to host a ‘taster session’ for young footballers interested in joining Redditch United Academy next year.
Held on Thursday 1st November, school leavers and college students from across Redditch will be invited to The TRICO Stadium to find out more about the club’s education programme.
The day will include a presentation from academy staff (11:10am), a question-and-answer session with current academy players and staff (11:45am), then the players will have the chance to show off their skills by taking part in a training session on The TRICO Stadium’s 3G pitch (midday-2pm).
Currently, the Academy allows both male and female learners to gain either a college or university-level education in sport, alongside a full-time coaching and competition schedule.
In addition, students will receive six hours coaching from licensed coaches every week and have the opportunity to showcase their talents in regional and national competitions. Academy players will also have the opportunity to play for the club’s under 18s’ Floodlit League team and reserve team in the Midland Football League.
There are a number of progression pathways that will enable the footballers to venture into further education and employment, including a variety of roles within Redditch United, as part of their community coaching and matchday teams.
Redditch United Academy Director, David Faulkner, said: “These ‘taster’ sessions are designed to show the best young footballers in Redditch that their local football club can be the hub for their next step in educational development.
“Redditch United is diving into the community to find the stars of the next generation and is proud to be nurturing them towards an excellent future in football or sport.”
Students interested can register for the event and apply for programmes via www.rufcacademy.co.uk.
