Disciplined Display Delivers The Reds All 3 Points
Andi Thanoj scores on debut
Goals from Dior Angus and Spencer Weir-Daley helped steer the Reds to victory at Premier Division new boys Farnborough but it was debutant Andi Thanoj who started the ball rolling, scoring on the stroke of half-time to cap a Man of the Match display.
Pauly Apostolopoulos and Orrin Pendley put early efforts over the bar Redditch while Ethan Ross made a smart save at the other end.
The Reds finished the half the stronger and Vinny Mukendi, making his first start, just failed to connect with a Thanoj ball to the far post.
The breakthrough came in first half injury time, Kevin Monteiro went on an excellent run before being brought down by keeper Liam Stone and was sent off, Thanoj held his nerve to fire the resultant free kick past replacement shotstopper Luke Cairney.
Chances went begging at both ends at the start to the second half with Apostolopoulos having a free-kick defected just wide and Gui Mailancol heading over the target for Reds while Pendley did well to block an effort from the home side.
But with an hour gone, Angus struck his fourth goal of the season, cutting in off the left before placing his shot beyond the reach of the keeper.
It could well have been 3-0 soon after when Angus’ cross picked out Thanoj but the former Grimsby Town midfielder lifted his effort over the Farnborough goal.
Farnborough rallied in the closing stages and after a good save from Ethan Ross, they managed to reduce the arrears on 89 minutes through Perry Coles.
But a goal from Weir-Daley wrapped up the points in injury time, the summer signing finding the net after latching on to a cross from another Redditch substitute Danico Johnson.
A well bonded and disciplined Reds performance saw them finish their 3rd consecutive league game without picking up a Yellow card.
