“Quantity and quality were more than we expected”
Ian Weaving - Academy Manager
Following the Easter set of trials at The Redditch United Football Academy, Manager Ian Weaving is very excited for next season.
Trialists from around the region visited the Trico Stadium over the Easter break and took part in a variety of activities including some friendly action on the 3G pitch. The Academy Manager is looking to find players to fill an U18’s Youth Floodlit League Team, U19’s AoC Team an the newly formed reserves team who will represent the Academy next season.
Following the trails Ian Weaving said “its not doubt I am very excited by what was on show. Not only the number of players, but also the quality was more than we had expected. We have set the Academy a big challenge next year especially as the Club have given us a team in the MFL Reserve League, however from what I have seen so far we have some real quality to add to the players we already have.
In preparation for pre-season which will start in July, the Academy have organised a number of friendly fixtures towards the end of this campaign. The scheduled games including fixtures with Droitwich, Kidderminster Harriers and Coleswhiill Town will provide an extended chance to look at the current and new players, plus also extend the window of opportunity for those wishing to join the growing programme based at The Trico Stadium.
The Academy runs full time education programmes and players can access college and university courses with around 10 hours per week of football with highly qualified coaches and the opportunity to train and play on the 1st Team 3G pitch.
