We're looking to recruit players capable of representing the Club at U18 and Reserve Team Level
- Ian Weaving - Academy Manager

Redditch United are currently recruiting for their next years intake of Academy players as the Club look to forge development to senior football with new Reserve Team.

Currently the Club has 30 full time Academy players who take part in college education and a full time football programme based at The Trico Stadium. The team has dominated their current league and so the Club are looking to strengthen their challenge through registering a Reserve side in the Midlands Football League.

Academy Manager Ian Weaving has been appointed by the Club to recruit new talent and seek to build a pathway for players to link to the 1st Team and beyond. Weaving said “quite simply the current team are far too good for the league they are currently in. They have surprised the Club and themselves in how quickly they have developed, however training full time at our fantastic facility is a big advantage for them. Providing these players with the opportunity to play on a Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd is exactly what they need to make the step from Academy football to the senior game. We have had many player progress so far and currently a number are training with the gaffer [Tim Harris]”.

The Academy will add to the full time programmes they offer, as they will launch a new University education programme. The programmes will take on players from 16 years of age and so far a number of prospective players have applied including some current and past professionals and a number from abroad.

The club are running trails during April with details on the Academy website: www.rufcacademy.co.uk
