Redditch to face St. Ives and St. Neots on Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon

Redditch United manager, Tim Harris, praised his side after concluding their tough run of four games in seven days with a spirited performance – and must now focus on two more fixtures this week.

Despite being narrowly beaten by promotion-chasing Weymouth at The TRICO Stadium on Saturday, following an excellent 1-0 victory over Royston Town on Wednesday evening, Harris believes his side put in a performance to be proud of:

“It doesn’t matter what division it is, playing the amount of games we have is incredibly tough. We have to had juggle the squad as a result, but, pleasingly, our second-half performance against Weymouth was the best we’ve played in the entire run – unfortunately, we just weren’t quite good enough to get a result on the day.

“We’ll regroup, though, and get ready for both St. Ives and St. Neots.”

The Reds take on St. Ives Town and St. Neots Town on Tuesday night (7.45KO) and Saturday afternoon (3pm KO) respectively, and Harris said he is looking forward to the back-to-back away challenge, starting with the trip to Westwood Road.

On the challenge of facing St. Ives, he said: “While the weather and, consequently, the playing surface may be tricky, it will be the same for both teams, and we will have to adapt accordingly. If the players play with the same desire and commitment as the last couple of outings, then I am confident that we will come away with three points.”

St. Ives are winless in five, while St. Neots have won one of their last five outings – the victory coming against St. Ives last Thursday evening.

Redditch boss, Harris, confirmed that the club will be nursing the fitness of both Ashley Sammons (gluteus), who was forced off at half-time on Saturday, and Tyler Weir. Weir is struggling with an ankle problem which he sustained during the Easter Monday clash against Hereford FC.
