“Pictured goal scorers from left to right; Kery Kedze, Jacob Mendy Mendy, Steve Burford, Gary Abisogun, Tony Halsey.”
Redhill made it 7 games without defeat with a clinical display against North Greenford United. Gavin Gordon had to patch up his squad with goal keeper Liam Sallis suspended, and Lewis Taylor, Abi Bolagi and Mo Diakite all unavailable. Jack Wingate started in goal, Steve Burford at right back, and Gavin Long replacing Bolagi in defensive midfield.
The Lobsters made a great start, Jacob Mendy-Mendy drilling home from 18 yards on 7 minutes to give the Reds a confident start. It got better two minutes later, a Gary Abisogun strike deceived Mulhall in the Greenford goal, and it was 2-0 inside 10 minutes. In a very entertaining first 20 minutes it was game on, a poor Jack Wingate clearance was punished when Jordan Ellis rifled home to put the visitors back in it at 2-1.
Tevon Webster was a thorn in the side of North Greenford all afternoon, and had a goal disallowed offside five minutes later. Mendy Mendy had hit another fierce strike which was fumbled by Mulhall into the patch of the offside Webster. But Redhill had their two goal cushion back on 32 minutes, Webster caused more problems for the visitors, and won a spot kick that Tony Halsey confidently slotted home for his10th league goal of the season.
The points were all but wrapped on 40 minutes, Gary Abisogun found Steve Burford bursting down the right, he showed his pace and power to craft an opening for himself and finished brilliantly to make it 4-1 at the break.
The second half started much like the first with the Lobsters pressing and making all the running. It only took 6 minutes for goal number 5. Webster and Mendy Mendy combined well down the left flank, found Abisogun in the area who slotted home his second to make it 5-1. Tevon Webster deserved a goal for his hard work, and was so unlucky to see his effort smash off the post after rounding Mulhall.
It was six with just over 20 minutes to play, and it was a second for Steve Burford. The right back got in behind the Greenford defence, and found a great finish past Mulhall into the far corner. Gavin Gordon decided to bring on some fresh legs with Uche Aluo, Kery Kedze and Connor Westney coming on for the Lobsters.
Credit to North Greenford who didn't give up and got a consolation goal on 77 minutes when Leius Sinclair struck a lovely volley home to make it 6-2. But the Reds had the final say when sub Kery Kedze finished off a good move and wrapped up another convincing win at 7-2.
The Reds will be intent on maintaining their recent good form as they welcome AFC Hayes to Kiln Brow on Tuesday evening.
