In freezing wind and sleet at Windsor the Cents came from behind to grab a deserved bonus point. In the conditions it was never going to be a classic game. Not a day to be a winger!

It was one of those matches where things just didn’t quite click. Too many errors by the visiting Cents, turning over the ball in open play and attempting one off load too many, gifted the ball to their opponents. It was a nervy start by the home side but their confidence started to grow after they opened the scoring with 12 minutes on the clock. The try was sypmtomatic of events that would follow, and pretty much set the tone for the afternoon. A promising period of attacking play by the Cents broke down in the opposition half and Windsor reacted quickly to break rapidly and decisively down the left flank to score an unconverted try.

Cents clawed back some of the early deficit when Mozejko stroked a fine penalty. The were occasional glimpses of well constructed rugby by both sides, but in the bitter cold wind these were few and far between. Windsor scored their second of the afternoon when Cents suffered a tackling allergy. This was converted to make it 14 - 3 with the half drawing to a close. Just before half time, however, the visiting support we given something to warm the cockles when Wilkinson made a fine break from his own half, beating several defenders before a nicely timed offload to support runner Leicester who finished the move in style. Unconverted. Half time 14 - 8.

Positional changes were made, frozen jelly babies chomped and we set off again.

The Cents scrum was as solid as ever and the line out functioned well. Leicester made an early break from well inside his own half, a move that was finished when Rose dotted down out wide. Unconverted. Windsor grabbed the next, another converted try to make it 21 - 13. Cents kept threatening to string moves together, but it never quite happened. Rose grabbed his second of the afternoon which Mozejko converted well from out wide with the last kick of the match. Cents certainly deserved the losing bonus point and will be frustrated that they didn’t take more from this game.

Many thanks to the travelling supporters who braved arctic conditions, and to flag dude Clark Snr.
