Want to know who coaches at Rams? Well here's the first of a series of Coaches Profiles.
Where better to start than with our U6s, the long term future of the club!
Name: Laura Lewis
Non rugby job: Head of Business Intelligence for a global media company
I am a coach in the Under 6s at Redingensians, this is my second year in the role after my son joined last year when he was a reception age pupil at Colleton School. Rugby was something that I have been a fan of for quite a while, I played some in a social setting when I was in University and during the 1999 World Cup my interest grew as my sisters house mate played at quite a high level. My husband is Welsh and so a development of the interest that I had was a natural by product of that.
We picked Redingensians RFC as it is a local club to Twyford where we live and also because they attended the Colleton School summer fayre the year before our son entered reception. My involvement in the coaching was a natural step from there, I was attending regularly and due to the numbers that year the Under 6s found themselves short of a coach. I was approached by Elaine Warwick who asked if I would help out and I agreed. Since then my role has grown and I am now the Under 6s manager as well as being one of the coaches. It is great to help the kids grow into the game of rugby and know that I helped them develop skills that they will use now and in later life.
