Season 2009-10 Preview

6 years ago, By Alan Jones

With pre-season training underway, a mix of touch Rugby, SAQ, circuits
(and a few other enjoyable and not so enjoyable challenges thrown in)
during July with a move towards the more traditional skills improvement
and development during August and early September. The squad is already
looking, and sounding, sharp and keen to take on the increased
challenges that the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Div 1 (BBO1) league is going
to throw at us.

With a squad approaching 30 in size, the perfect number we have found to
provide cover for the inevitable injuries, school commitments and
various other excuses that you get throughout the typical season, there
are enough challenges during the season to provide a challenge for any
squad mix, and our target of achieving equal pitch time for everyone
when they are available.

Our final season as Juniors is, without doubt, going to be our greatest
challenge yet. Everyone in the squad, players, coaches and parents alike
is awake to the opportunity that faces us. Every side we play, seems to
raise their game against us, and we look forward to a tough, physical
season where every point needs to be earned.

I could not leave the pre-season comments without recognising those
players in the squad that have achieved further club (academy), county
and national recognition, well done and keep flying the Redingensians
colours wherever your travels take you.
