Redruth Jive is a well-established, independent modern jive club that attracts enthusiastic dancers of mixed age and ability. The club has a friendly, sociable feel to it and you will be warmly welcomed on a Wednesday evening at Redruth Rugby Football Club.
Modern jive is a fun and funky partner dance, which came about after World War II, when American GIs in France "mixed things up"! It's a fusion of other dance styles, including rock 'n' roll, salsa, swing and lindy hop.
It is a male-led dance, with simplified footwork and a diverse range of moves, which are always evolving. It is a style that can be danced to a wide variety of music and is suited to most occasions.
Classes are friendly and fun, with a focus on giving people the confidence and skills to freestyle their moves of preference, rather than learning set routines for specific tunes. It's a fabulous combination of learning, fitness and fun!
