FRIDAY EVENING JUNIOR SESSIONS
The start of Friday Evening Junior Tennis is on 6th April and will continue until the last Friday evening on 2nd November. As previously mentioned there will be no sessions during August. Instead James is offering one free session a week through his Tennis Holiday Camps.
As a reminder, the evening is split into two sessions led by James and his Coaching team and ably assisted by our Junior Volunteers. The first sessions (5pm – 6pm) is for age groups 5-9 and the second session (6pm to 7pm) is for age groups 9-13+. The remaining courts are available for free play. From 7pm to 8pm free play is available on all courts. A register will be taken at the start of each session so please ensure Juniors register before going on court. The bar will be open shortly after 5pm.
FRIDAY WINTER MATCHPLAYS
We have had a very successful Winter programme of Junior Matchplays which have now come to an end.Thank you to James and his team of Volunteers for running these events. Below are the results from last month:

RLTC OPEN DAY
Our Club Open Day is on Saturday 21st April starting at 10am. The Bar will be opened at lunch-time and food will be provided by our BBQ. So, if you have friends who might be interested in playing tennis at the club, then please invite along. It will be fun for everyone.
SURREY WINTER JUNIOR TEAM TROPHY
As previously reported our U15 Girls Team reached the Finals of this Competition which was played on Sunday 18th March on the indoor courts of St George’s College, Weybridge. The girls faced tough opponents in the shape of Wilton LTC whose girls had much higher ratings. Unfortunately, our number 1 player India H was unavailable so our U12 player Anya H stepped in to play.
Both singles matches were very similar in that the first sets were very close and could have gone either way but unfortunately went to our opponents. The second sets were not as close so Wilton clinch both sets and the title. The results were Julianne G lost 6-4 6-2 and Anya H lost 7-5 6-2. The girls played some really good tennis and were slightly let down by their level of consistency. Congratulations for reaching the Final.
TEAM TENNIS SURREY 2018
This is the team competition that was formally known as AEGON Team Tennis. The Team Captains have been very busy arranging their matches. The Juniors Team matches start on the weekend of 21st/22nd April. I have received from the LTA several copies of the Team Tennis Captain Guides. So Captains, please get your booklet from me when you next see me at the club.
QUORN FAMILY CUP RED BALL TOURNAMENT
We ran this event on Sunday 25th March. Unfortunately, we didn’t have as many Families this year as in previous years. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop the families from having a fun afternoon. Steve and Harry J emerged as winners with Andrew and Henry C as runners-up. Besides load of prizes given out to all players, Steve and Harry will enjoy an all-expenses paid day out at one of the qualifying weekends of a LTA grass court major event in June (hopefully Eastbourne).
JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Entries have started to trickle in but hopefully they will start to pour in. I do expect Team Tennis Players to enter. We will hold it on similar lines as in previous years with a joint Finals Day with the Adult events on Saturday 7th July. Closing date for entries is Friday 20th April. ROAD TO WIMBLEDON TOURNAMENT 2018
We will again be running this popular tournament at our Club this year. This is a Country wide tournament open to all players 14 & under (born 1 Sept 2003 – 31 Aug 2007) and rated between 7.1 and 10.2 or have no rating as of 1st April 2018. This year the tournament will be held over the weekend (Sat 5th May– Sun 6th May). The girls’ and boys’ winners will then be invited to play in the County Finals which start later at the end of June. Please mark this weekend in your diary so that we have a good level of entries and a fun weekend.

JUNIOR PLAYER RATINGS
As we start the Summer Season, many of our Mini Tennis Players will have moved up an age group and therefore their ratings will have gone up accordingly. These are not included below. Congratulations to all the players that have improved their ratings over the last month:
