Public meeting sanctions REMYCA's move to community ownership

It was another landmark day for Litherland REMYCA Football Club on Sunday, as a public meeting voted for the club to become a Community Benefit Society and become Community Owned.

The turnout was close to 100 people, who all attended the meeting at St Benets Parochial Club Netherton, which included an informative address by Supporters Direct representative Peter Fermedge, who outlined the advantages of effectively becoming a football club running as a cooperative.

The vision to develop our own ground is still a priority and converting to becoming Community Owned is key in progressing this aim

In the longer term, this is a positive step for the club. It will build support and ensure we remain sustainable. The legal process will take approximately one month and thereafter we will look to build towards 500 members/shareholders in the first year.

Expressions of interest in purchasing shares were made on the day and a database will be formed in advance of the official launch date.

As more information becomes available, we will have it here first.
