Jack O’Connell, a former Remyca United youth player, was announced as a signing for Rochdale today. He joins the Dale on loan until January 5th from Blackburn Rovers and will play in League Two next season.
O’Connell joined Remyca United at the age of sixteen, making appearances for both the youth and senior sides before being snapped up by Blackburn when he was seventeen. He would then go on to appear in the FA Youth Cup Final against Chelsea before spending time out on loan with Rotherham United and York City last season.
More recently, the defender has captained England at under-19 level, helping the side battle back to gain draws against both Georgia and Belgium.
The club would like to wish him every success in his loan move.
