Litherland REMYCA FC1. Squires Gate 2

Despite being two goals down REMYCA staged a second half fight back but lost out to a determined Squires Gate team.

The visitors had won their last two away fixtures against high ranking opposition and started brightly.
They took the lead on 26 minutes through Ricardo Egdidi followed by a further goal 4 minutes later by midfielder James Boyd.

At this stage it looked ominous for REMYCA as they had been second best in every department.

Spurred on by the promptings of Colin Quirk the home team began to see more of the ball.

David Crist then fired over when in front of an open goal and Quirk fired against the post when he should have scored.

REMY came out for the second half fired up and within four minutes had pulled a goal back when Warren Jevons scored from close range.

The game became feisty not helped by some strange refereeing decisions as REMYCA pushed for an equaliser and the visitors employed all means to defend the narrow lead.

Several clear chances were not taken by REMY as they continued to dominate but could not find a way through.

Warren Jevons thought he had equalised with a well taken goal but was ruled offside.

Then on 80 minutes REMY midfielder Jason McShane was given a straight red card for a dangerous tackle.

The momentum of the home team slowed as Squires Gate with the extra man managed the game out.

Despite this being a hard fought contest REMYCA could have taken all points if chances had been taken.

They must find a way to convert chances into goals. The second half performance was encouraging but the team must compete from the first whistle and not wait until they have conceded goals.
