It wasn't the result the club hoped for prior to their first NWCFL Premier Division game

James Olsen's first game in charge as Litherland REMYCA manager ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Congleton Town.

The home side capitalised on a REMYCA mistake to take the lead through Emin Adegbenro, who latched onto a back pass intended for goalkeeper Ben Morrow to open the scoring.

Warren Jevons, one of three debutants in Olsen's side, had a goal ruled out for offside early in the first half.

The home side were reduced to 10-men after the break when Bevan Burey was shown a straight red five minutes into the second half.

REMYCA were denied by an outstanding save from Congleton's Craig Ellison, who stretched to prevent an Alex Ryan free kick levelling the scores late on.

A disappointing result at the beginning of the inaugural Premier Division campaign will have to be set aside, as the REMY prepare for the visit of Charnock Richard in the FA Cup on Saturday.

REMYCA Team:

XI: Ben Morrow, Anthony Cato, Declan Gregson (79'), Jack Riley, David Crist, Chris Tyson, Paul Foy (77'), Ashton Clements, Warren Jevons, Colin Quirk (63'), Jason McShane.

Subs: Oscar Billington, Stephen King, Alex Ryan (63'), Colin McDonald (77'), Jordan Stafford (79').
