Worth the wait

Remy demolish 3rd place Fieldway FC

After going the whole of last season without a victory, this performance was well worth the wait. Playing a Fieldway F.C team that were in 3rd place after three matches wasn't going to be easy. The teams involved in the league this season look stronger than last year, but so do the Remy. With some players leaving, signings had to be made, and what signings they are. The 7 new arrivals are as follows, in defence we welcome Kieran Glennon and Joel Sargent, In midfield we welcome Lewis Askew, Tyler Cliff and Shea Meredith, and in attack we welcome Levi Adebisi and Vincent Williams.
Even warming the team up, you could feel a presence within the boys, a hunger, a focus that has been missing from the team. Every player looked like they wanted to fight for each other, and from the very first whistle they did just that. Everything that the lads have worked on in training began to show. In the first 5 minutes the Remy lads showed some excellent link up play and created a few decent chances. At the other end Fieldway couldn't find a way to break through our defence. A superb tackle from quality centre back Kieran Glennon gave Jack Scott the opportunity to bring the ball free, cool as you like from the two centre backs. The pressure from the Remy was relentless. Attack after attack, the lads looked determined. It wasn't long before the break through came. Some excellent inter changing on 15 minutes saw classy Lewis Askew set himself up with a delicate touch then strike a powerful effort past the keeper 1-0 Remyca. The boys continued to dominate, pressing their opponents at every opportunity. With captain James Burke returning to form in his old left back position and tough tackling Tyler Cliff at right back, and a pair of quality centre backs in Jack Scott and Kieran Glennon they looked so composed at the back, goalkeeper Luke Cheshire had one of his quietest ever matches. On 24 minutes the Remy doubled their lead. This time the boys quick passing and moving carved the fieldway defence wide open and a superb run from Levi Adebisi through two defenders to get on the end of an excellent cross to place into the bottom right hand corner to finish. 2-0. There was no stopping the Remyca boys now. With every move came strength and determination. The lads have been told that teams who talk win matches. Understanding each other is important which is what the boys done. On 34 minutes it was our German striker, Vincent Williams turn to get on the score sheet. A superb run through from defender Jack Scott and an inch perfect pass split the Fieldway defence in two. The young Germans run was impressive, as too was the finish. 3-0. A well deserved half time lead. The boys took the confidence and enjoyment into the second half and controlled everything. On the 74th minute it was game over. Some excellent passing saw Liam Etherington break through on the right and clip a shot just past the despairing keeper. 4-0, game, set and match. The boys performance today was outstanding. As soon as the final whistle went, the Remyca under 16s celebrated like a team who were ready to progress. A special victory for all involved, well done Remy.
