Report: REMYCA 1-0 Ashton Town (FA Vase)

A late, late goal seals passage to the next round

A late Shaun Harris strike in extra time gave REMYCA a 1-0 victory against Ashton Town on Saturday afternoon at Litherland Sports Park.

Harris, who only rejoined REMYCA on Friday night, hit a low driven shot into the bottom right of Tom Goodwin's goal to win the tie with five minutes remaining.

Ashton had good chances to win the game themselves but Ben Morrow made two spectacular saves in one-on-one positions to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season.

In blustery, windy conditions, either side could have walked away victorious following 120 minutes of football.

Luke Holden struck the woodwork twice - hitting the post following a dribble in from the right wing first, and seeing the ball cannon off the bar from long range effort in the second half.

REMYCA advance into the next round of the FA Vase, when they face Chadderton at home on 23rd September.
