Remy recovery

Excellent come back by the remyca lions.

In a match where the boys thought it would be easy, the opposition proved that you should always be focused, and never under estimate your opponents. Before the turn of the year, the Remyca lions defeated Georges jags easily in a 6 nil drubbing. This time, Georges jags were a completely different team, both mentally and physically. In the first 5 minutes of the match a slip from the jags goalkeeper handed Joseph Diamond a shooting chance. The keeper couldn't recover quick enough to take the ball from the speedy Diamond, 1-0 Remyca. The response from Georges jags was to battle on and see what they can grind out with plenty of hard work. Half time could not come any sooner, as the lions, battered and bruised conceded three quick goals in the final ten minutes of the half, Remyca lions 1-3 Georges jags. The second half saw a different Remyca. A few changes were required due to an injury to James Hartley after battling so hard in the first period, Dylan Clarke moved into a more attacking role with Joseph Diamond, and Mason Burke was brought into play with Connor McGee in midfield, leaving our tough tackling defenders, Shea Maloney and Ewan Brooks to defend Charlie Sherwood,(the best keeper in the leagues goal). The boys realised in the half time team talk what was needed, and how much it was going to take to salvage anything from the match. With some crunching tackles in the middle of the park it didn't take long for Mason and Connor to get a grip of the midfield. One and two touch passes were beginning to open up the jags, the Remyca had an energy, a will to win, which seemed to shock our opponents. Just minutes into the second half, the boys passed the ball brilliantly for a well deserved early goal. A throw in from Shea Maloney found Connor McGee who passed it to Mason Burke, he took a touch then passed through to Joseph Diamond for him to slot home easily. 2-3 game on.. Georges jags could not contain the Remyca passing and moving, which brought a few late tackles on the Remyca lions, forcing Shea Maloney to leave the pitch and James Hartley to return after a first half injury. With strikes from Connor McGee, Mason Burke and Dylan Clarke all hitting the post or crossbar, it wasn't going to be our lucky day. But with four minutes remaining a save from Charlie Sherwood fell to Ewan Brooks who cleared to Mason Burke. The determination of our boys to get forward in the final minutes was amazing. Connor, Dylan and Joseph burst into space, creating enough room for Mason to find a pass to Dylan, who smashed home the equalizer. 3-3. The boys didn't stop there, attack after attack they continued to press, right up to the final whistle. A marvellous second half display by every remyca player, made the man of the match award a tough decision but the award goes to Mason for two second half assists and brilliant link up play with Connor in midfield. Well done lions
