RENFREW UNDER 15's IN SUPER 8's TEST

doubtless they will have learned a lot from the experience

Renfrew Cricket Club's under 15's took part in the annual indoor tournament, played at the Hutchesons' Grammar school sports hall on Thursday 28th December.
The Royal Burgh youngsters were drawn in a group with teams from Poloc Cricket Club, Clydesdale Cricket Club and a combined team from Ferguslie and Kelburne Cricket Club's in their group (Group B).
In their first match, against Poloc, their opponents batted first, racking up a total of 128 for 3 wickets in their seven overs.
In reply Renfrew could only muster a total of 77 for 5 in their 7 overs, with Rafay Khan retiring on 25 and Muhaymen Majeed finishing 24 not out, but this wasn't enough to secure victory.
Renfrew's second match of the tournament was a closer affair.
Batting first the Royal Burgh side scored 77 for 2 wickets in seven overs, with Rafay Khan once again retiring on 25.
Chasing this total, the combined Ferguslie and Kelburne reached their target, with just five balls to spare, at 82 for 2 in 6.1 overs.
MacLean (27 retired) and Wylie (24) were the main contributors for the combined Paisley club side, while Rafay Khan picked up one wicket for one run, from two overs.
In the final match, Rafay Khan (28 retired) and Muhaymen Majeed (28 retired), were once again to the fore as Renfrew scored 88 for the loss of one wicket in seven overs.
Unfortunately, this wasn't sufficient to defend, and the Clydesdale second team reached their target at 89 for 5 from 5.5 overs.
So, unfortunately, the Renfrew side failed to win any of their matches and would have been extremely disappointed at their showing, but doubtless will have learned a lot from the experience.
The full playing squad for the tournament was Rafay Khan, Rueben Smyth, Adam Chaudhry, Muhaymen Majeed, Abdullah Omar, Salman Khan and Will Hunt (guesting from West of Scotland Cricket Club).
