Retford FC v Newark Town

Retford FC face Newark Town on Saturday afternoon at the Rail fresh from their 7-1 demolition of Dronfield Town Reserves midweek.
The Choughs were 5-0 up inside the first 30 minutes on Tuesday night and will be looking to take that momentum into the game at the weekend as they face second bottom side Newark Town.

Newark have had a tough season so far, winning only four games all campaign, however two of those have come in their last two outings against Phoenix FC (2-0) and Dinnington Town (1-0) so they will be arriving at the Rail sensing an upset.

Last time the sides met it ended in an 8-1 win for Retford, Adam Scott with four goals, something he has done again against Dronfield on Tuesday evening, and with the "youngsters" continuing to shine in the First Team, it promises to be an intriguing game of football.

Manager Chris Woodhead reflected on the win midweek and ahead to the game on Saturday saying, “It was tough not having a game for a couple of weeks and then having to travel to Dronfield for me was a potential banana skin. When I saw the team sheet and there were a couple of first team players thrown in i knew we had to start well.”

“We did just that, the lads were superb and we deserved the points.”

“Newark on Saturday is another cup final. All the games are now cup finals until the end of the season as we have put ourselves in a position to challenge for the title.”
