...3G Pitch booked for training game as new signing announced.

The Badgers have booked a 3G pitch at the Joseph Whitaker College in Rainworth for Saturday afternoon (12pm) and have had a provisional agreement from a Blue Square North side to play a training game - all dependant on this weekend's postponements.

More details will be announced as we get confirmation, but failing the Blue Square opponents, United have other clubs who are willing to send a side waiting in the wings.

The game will give Brett Marshall a chance to look at new signing Karl Slack who yesterday signed forms from Bottesford Town.
The 28 year old Striker had a spell with Retford United in 2002, playing four games and scoring one goal early in the campaign.
Since then he has played for Brigg Town and more latterly Bottesford Town where he has scored nine goals so far this season.

I'd like to be the first to welcome Karl to the football club and i'm sure he will settle in very quickly. His character and willingness to be a part of Retford United impressed me which after several players ive spoken to before its a refreshing change to hear someone who actually asked questions about the team, the football club and the players rather than the inevitable opening question !
Regarding the fixture Saturday the 3G pitch @ Rainworth is fine but its the surrounding area's which are unsafe so that has been cancelled. However once again weather permitting we will now be putting on a training session / internal 6 a side tournament to keep the players active. The address is Play Football @ Arnold NG5 6NZ 3pm start for any supporter who wishes to attend and i may even buy you a drink at the Arrow public house afterwards..
