By Retford United FC, 10th May 2011

The Club wish to confirm that Worksop Town will not be playing at Cannon Park during the 2011/12. We are lead to believe The Northern Premier League/FA will be conducting a ground grade as soon as works are finished at Sandy Lane allowing the Club to move back to their home.
This will have a major impact on Retford United finances for the coming season.
Without external support we cannot maintain a player budget that would be sufficient to compete at Northern Premier League Level.
As everyone knows we have struggled this season both on an off the pitch, and to survive we must make progress on reducing our debts to our very supportive creditors.
We have had discussions with both the Northern Premier and Northern Counties East leagues with a view to moving to the Northern Counties East League. The leagues are currently discussing this with the relevant personnel at the FA.
The Club has discussed the situation with the David Lloyd and John Knapper, the joint managers, at some length and we have agreed to part company on the very best of terms. David and John have done a good job for the Club under difficult circumstances and are thanked for their efforts and wished well for the future.
Further information will be released as soon as possible when it happens.

The players were told by the management. It was Boothy who put it on Twitter when I am told it was to be embargoed until decisions were made by the leagues concerned.

How have Worksop had time to get the ground up to scratch after the end of march deadline?

I'm really sorry to read this. We at Rainworth know what a nightmare season it has been for you, but were looking forward to playing you next season.
On a personal level my best wishes go to Dave Lloyd and John Knapper in particular, because I know them both well from their and my days at Alfreton Town.
Best wishes also to everyone at Retford, and I hope you can come through this.
