Rhostyllen 8 -1 Rhos Aelwyd

What a hard match report to write!
The final score is nothing short of embarrassing of Rhos Aelwyd's first team. After taking the lead on 3 minutes from Ryan Jenkins header, things were looking positive for Rhos but credit to Rhostyllen they cranked it up a gear and forced Rhos in to many errors and couldn't get hold of the game. 20 mins after our goal, Rhostyllen had flipped the game and taken the lead after two well worked goals. At 2-1 down, Rhos settled more into the game and did test Rhostyllen's defence on a couple of decisions with James Haynes shot being cleared off the line after rounding the keeper. A half time I would genuinely say it was an even match.
Rhos started brightly in the second half and on another day might have had a penalty after Jamie Rogers was tripped by the keeper. Also Rhostyllen's defender was lucky to remain on the pitch after Josh Rush had gone through on goal but was only branded a yellow. That's where the positivity ends as Rhostyllen gave us a footballing lesson and were the sharper, hungrier and quicker team! They scored their 3rd goal on the counter and all of Rhos' players heads went down! It felt like that there was no desire or hunger to get back in the game.
Rhostyllen did have that hunger and took all the chances that they had today causing the whole Rhos team trouble and within 15minutes of scoring their 3rd goal they were now 8-1 ahead. Credit to Rhostyllen for how they continued throughout the game and how they weathered a storm at the beginning the second half and went on to beat Rhos more than convincingly.
This is a big contrast from the match report from last week where every ounce of energy and desire was given. Next week we go to top of the league New Brighton and we must be 100% better. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the players.
