Rhostyllen 8 - 1 Rhos
Village impress in emphatic derby win
Rhostyllen recorded another league win and reacted perfectly to last weeks disappointing cup exit. The home team welcomed back James Jones after his time in America and Kevin Roberts. A late withdrawal saw Gareth Parry added to the substitutes bench.
It was a terrible start for Rhostyllen when in the first minute a corner from the right saw the Rhos player head home unmarked. This spurred the village on who then started to dictate play, They were level on 9 minutes when the returning Kevin Roberts slotted home after good link up play between himself and Steven Jones, The home team were now in full flow and playing some of the best football they have played in a long time, They went ahead in the 17th Minute when a great team move saw Lewis Clamp put the ball past the advancing Rhos goalkeeper. The rest of the half turned flat as the village went in 1 goal up.
At the start of the second half the home team were again sluggish as they continued to give Rhos possession, That all changed in the 60th minute when a ball to the back post was headed down into the ground and into the net by Rob Gibson and the village continued to be clinical. It was 4-1 in the 65th minute when a well worked corner was headed back across goal by Drew Wickens and tapped home on the turn by Ashley Ryan. Alex Williams then replaced Kevin Roberts before Rob Gibson made it 5-1 with a nice finish after finding himself one on one with the goalkeeper. The striker then completed his hat trick when he finished with another back post header. Craig Spencer then replaced Rob Gibson before scoring himself to make it 7-1 in the 79th minute. The scoring was completed in the 88th minute when the impressive Lewis Clamp got his 2nd of the game.
The whistle went and the home team had secured an emphatic win over their neighbors with a clinical display. Next up at home to ,Maesgwyn.
