William Davidson freekick see's the young Lilywhites crowned champions with a 1-0 win against Aberyswyth Town

What an unbelievable achievement for both players & coaches.

The side have now been working together for 4 years and have worked hard building into their 1st season of competitive football.

The squad were dominant from start to finish this season finishing top of the Academy League and winning the quarter final, semi final & final without conceding a single goal.

The game started on the front foot for Rhyl and should have took an early lead when Zachary Davies close ranged effort was blazed ver the crossbar. Minutes later William Smedley went through 1 on 1 but was denied by the goalkeeper. A good block on the line from Harry Leech and save from Harvey Brewerton stopped Aberystwyth from going in front and at half time neither side were able to break the deadlock.

Minutes into the 2nd half good work from Charlie McClelland seen him fouled on the edge of the box. William Davidson whipped the free kick into the far corner out of the keeper's reach to put the Lilywhites 1-0 up.

A few more chances came but the Lilywhites were unable to finish the game off. A tense finally but the Lilywhites held on and came away FAW National Welsh champions.

An unbelievable achievement for players and coaches.

We would like to thank parents for your fantastic commitment throughout the season along with the great efforts of all the players.

A huge well done to both coaches Jamie Whitehouse and Daniel Brewerton who have worked extremely hard with the side throughout this season and previous years.

Thanks
Niall McGuinness
Rhyl FC Academy Director
