Playing for RCC



Selection meetings take place every Tuesday evening. Please ensure that you email, or enter your name in the Club availability book, whether available or unavailable. Teams will be posted on the Club noticeboard and on the club’s website. If your e-mail address is registered, you will receive an email informing you where and when you are playing. In any case, it is each member’s responsibility to find out where he or she is playing.

This may be achieved by:

Visiting the club and looking at the teamsheet on the noticeboard
Contacting the Team Secretary (Mark Price, aka “Sharky”)
Visiting, logging in and viewing the Matches.


Once a member has declared him or herself available to play, he is not expected to cry-off. However, the committee understands that, very occasionally, a cry-off is unavoidable. If you have to cry-off, please contact your team Captain or Mark Price by telephone as early as possible.

When a player cries off, it can affect up to 5 Richmond teams, weakening sides and potentially leaving one team short. Persistent or specious or late cry-offs will be reflected in subsequent selection decisions.


Members who persistently arrive late for match meet times can expect the Selection Committee to take punitive action against them. This may include players being dropped down through the sides, irrespective of their normal team position.

Arrival times for all matches are at the discretion of each Captain. As a general rule of thumb, the Committee expects that all players should be on the ground a minimum of 45 minutes before the scheduled start of a match.

If planning to travel to an away match without calling at the Club (“going direct”), please first check with your Captain that your car is not needed to transport other players. Only travel direct once your Captain has been informed and agreed.


Match fees are paid by every player, at the end of each match, as a contribution to the costs of teas, balls, ground hire, umpires and scorers. Please pay your match fees promptly to the person designated to collect on the day. The rates for 2017 are (to be confimed):

1st XI (League, all day): £xx per player (no concessions)

1st XI (Cup, half day): £xx per player (£x concessions)

2nd XI (League, half day): £xx per player (£x for u21s and non-earners)

3rd / 4th XI (League, half day): £xx per player (£x concessions)

5th XI (League): £x per player (£x concessions)

Sunday / Mid week (Social): £x per player (£x concessions)

Players who fail to pay their match fees promptly can expect the Selection Committee to take punitive action against them.
