Ladies 1s Hard Work Not Reflected In Final Score Against Top of the Table St Neots
By Jess Martin
Facing top of the table with a 100% record is always going to be a challenge, but we didn’t let that stop us from putting up a good fight.
Right from the start, it was clear to see why St Neots are racing ahead in the league as they scored early on with some great passing and positioning in the D. The goals kept coming for them in the first half as they took us into half time with a 4-0 lead.
Going into the second half, we knew it would be hard to come back from this but we weren’t going down without a fight. We picked up the pace, improved our passing and put pressure on St Neots, forcing them to make mistakes. We created more chances in the 2nd half, but failed to follow these through. It was in fact St Neots who again capitalised on their great movement through the pitch, taking the final score to 7-0.
The final score is not a reflection of the hard work from all the girls and despite the result, we were all proud with the effort we put in right until the very end! Kim got player for some great clearances and attacks, whilst Laura received DOTD for not being available – probably the first player to receive DOTD without having played – what an achievement!
