Ladies 1s Frustrated With A Point At Aylesbury
By DOTD Jess Martin
Having beaten Aylesbury 4-1 in the first game of the season, we thought we stood a good chance to get 3 points from the game. However, Aylesbury had a number of different players from the previous game and certainly didn’t seem like a team who were bottom of the league without a win.
The game started off quite even with both teams fighting for the ball. We got a short corner about 10 minutes in, with a great strike from Kate making it 1-0.
We were 1-0 up for the majority of the game but knew they would come out fighting in the 2nd half. We continued to put on the pressure and managed to keep the ball out, even when we were down to 10 players for a short time whilst Emily took a breather from being taken out for the majority of the game!!
Unfortunately, Aylesbury found a way through and managed to slip one past Fran making it 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. With one last chance right before the whistle, the ball rolling past the goal and Becca just narrowly missing, the game finished 1-1.
Very frustrating for us as we know we could have won but rather a point than a loss. Time to get some wins back under our belt after the Christmas break!
