A goal with 14 seconds to go secures a point for Ladies 1s
By Jess Martin
The first game back after Christmas is always a struggle, especially with no subs, but we definitely gave it our all.
Chances came for both in the first half, with both keepers keeping their teams in the game. Stevenage had stronger passing and possession so it was good to keep it 0-0 up to half time with great defending and pressure.
The second half started quite evenly with both teams creating chances. Stevenage looked very strong on the break and a great ball through the middle to their forward saw her take it past Fran and into the back of the goal.
For a 10 minute spell after we put the pressure on and created more chances than Stevenage, forcing them to make mistakes. We knew the final whistle was nearly there but we didn't give up. 30 seconds left gave us time for one more attack. With a great ball in from Jessi, Helen's shot was saved, but Emily was there for the rebound with a great goal, making the final score 1-1 with 14 seconds to go!
This moved us 1 place up in the table as we head to Bedford on Saturday.
