The Awards took place at the Caburn on Saturday 29th April 2017

The 2016/17 seasons  Award evening was opened by Chairman Derek McDougall, he welcomed all the survivors of the past season in this Ringmer's difficult time. Derek praised all Managers and players for their efforts throughout the club, also the committee and staff who work so hard to keep the club running. He assured all that we will see better times ahead but we still need to be patient and continue to work hard this coming season to reaching this goal. Derek then handed the proceedings onto Director of football Doug Holford.

Doug reiterated Derek's statement that the season had been very difficult for all, First team manager Sammy Donnelly left at the beginning of October. to go to Shoreham's U 21's along with Coach Alan Dartnell. This obviously had a bad effect through out the teams and the club itself. The club had to now  look for a new Manager who would, to say the least "have a very big challenge" on their hands.

It was very hard to find a Manager that could fit this post as it was no secret that Ringmer's budget was next to nothing! Then in late October Ash Bailey arrived at the Caburn and took on the role of 1st team Manager, since then Ash has built up an almost entire new 1st X1 squad from scratch and molded them into a competitive force, something that some at the club thought they would not see this season but they did not know Ash.

To be honest this is why we have a presentation this year, it could have easily gone wrong in October as the exodus of players ultimately happened and things looked very bleak. Doug stated that the club as a whole is more positive about the future we have a re structuring of the teams i.e. a proposed U 21's instead of Reserve and a flourishing Youth section. Doug then handed over to U18's Manager Jason Milburn.

YOUTH TEAM
Jason admitted that it had been a difficult season for him and the team. He added though that the team of youngsters most of whom were first timers in the senior league of football showed true grit and spirit in their games and never gave up, a few fell by the wayside but that is to be expected, we have many interested in joining us next season so prospects look good for us next season if we can keep those who would be second termers. Jason announced his awards which were:

Top scorer: Jake Hemsley
Managers Player: Brandon Morley
Players Player: Ben Evans
Most improved: Brandon Morley

THIRDS
Tom Argent Manager, was congratulated for getting promotion again this season from Div 9 of the Mid-Sussex Football League, coming runners up to Keymer & Hassocks.
Tom thanked all concerned for all their hard work in achieving this and proceeded his awards.

Managers Player: Adam Gooch
Players Player: George Brockhurst

RESERVE
Manager Danny Wood said that the season had also been a hard one to get through and thanked the players who had shown commitment and stayed the course. He highlighted that as with the U18's some of the reserve players have stepped up for the first team on occasion when asked without question. He stated that this however has probably made choosing the awards a bit easier this year, so.

Top Goal Scorer: Jamie Stevens
Managers Player: Will Saint
Players Player: Adam Sparks
Most Improved: Adam Sparks

FIRST TEAM
With a round of applause Ash Bailey stepped up to announce the first teams awards. He firstly commented that it had been a hard task over the last few months but he had enjoyed the challenge. He added that he was proud of the team for coming to Ringmer knowing they were bottom table and getting the club up to 16th place, seeing how far behind we were in January, we would have got higher but ran out of time. Starting from nothing and just 3 points on the board at the end of October certainly was a huge hill to climb. My first game in charge was away to Seaford when I saw for myself that we needed a stronger team if we were going to be a competitive outfit. (no reflection on those who played)
Since that day we have built that team bit by bit and from not winning we have had a seven match unbeaten run through March and we even won the team of the month to boot. Ash commented that we are now looking very positive for next season.

1st Team Awards
