Ripon lost their second game in as many weeks against the young well organized students from Sheffield.
Ripon started well and could have opened the scoring in the early stages but the home side were soon into their stride and after 10 minutes crossed for a try under the posts.
The medics took control for the rest of the first half and with the Ripon lineout failing to function again the hosts enjoyed plenty of possession. This coupled with their speed to the breakdown meant the Ripon side were on the back foot for long periods having to defend desperately.
Two more tries and 2 penalties without reply took the score at half time to 21-0.
The second half started in a similar fashion for the hosts scoring their fourth try after only 2 minutes.
With the score now 28-0 the game looked lost but Ripon began to play with some confidence and tries by Rob HARRISON
and Jason Bell, both converted by Watkinson, gave the scoreline some respectability.Ripon continued to play a more positive game but were unable to score again to secure a bonus point and were unlucky to concede a fifth try in the last minute.
This was another setback for a young Ripon side but there are encouraging signs with two more teenagers making their first team debuts.Ben Nabarro at scrumhalf and Peter Marsden on the wing both made promising starts and with half the side now under 22 the future looks bright once a few problem areas are sorted and the team becomes more settled.
