RISBOROUGH RANGERS 3 WINSLOW UNITED 3
Steve Burnett reports from Windsors on this festive encounter
Last Saturday in their last home game of the year, Risborough Rangers shared an entertaining 3-3 draw with third placed Winslow United in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One.
Risborough started the game in a perfect way as they raced to a two-goal lead after just ten minutes. Marcus Wylie netted the first, a seventh minute opener before former United man Alex Woodfine scored their second from the penalty spot. Coles grabbed a goal back just before half time on 40 minutes.
Wylie extended Rangers lead in front of the 160 fans in attendance as he scored his side’s third on 61 minutes with a mazy run from the half way line and finishing in style.
With 14 minutes remaining, Ryan Freshwater calmly converted a penalty for the visitors to set up a grandstand finish. United substitute Ricky Gwilliam then saw red as the visitors were reduced to ten men.Coles scored a dramatic late equaliser, his ninth of the campaign to share the points in this feisty local derby.
Rangers Manager Mark Eaton said after the game "It was frustrating not holding on for the win today but fair play to Winslow United FC even with 10 men they had belief that they could get something. There was a great vocal crowd for both teams and we are improving and it should be a positive 2019".
Risborough who are now unbeaten in their last 6 games are at Home again next Saturday (5th Jan) when Ampthill Town come to Windsors Stadium in another league encounter. Kick Off 3.00pm.
