Rainbow Shooting
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
Often young children throw the ball at the hoop which can result in a lot of rebounded shots. However, by using the metaphor "Make a Rainbow" you can help your players visualise the correct shooting form, getting the ball up and through the hoop - helping them on their way to becoming a top goal shooter. ◦Part 1 of this session: To get your players shooting with loop we kick things off with three rainbow partner warm up exercises, getting players to focus on getting height on their shots and accurately shooting with a flick of the wrist. ◦Part 2 of this session: After this we up the tempo as we work on Speed Footwork and Shooting in a series of driving drills, designed to get your players sprinting into the circle, using 1-2 footwork and shooting at the goal hoop with accuracy. Lastly, we finish this goal scoring session with a conditioned game to see which team can make the most shots in the allotted time! Try this rainbow shooting skills session today!

Defending the Centre Pass
Working on defence - Shadow and Interception Session
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
This Sportplan Session works on the core defending skills with particular focus on man-marking - getting your players to work on their defensive stance; keeping their knees bent, arms up and body open so they can keep an eye on their player and the game at the same time! The importance of a solid defence that works well as unit should not be underestimated, the fewer goals your opponents score means the fewer goals your team will need to score to go on and win the game! As the saying goes: "Offence sells tickets; Defence wins championships". To get your players working hard on their defensive duties we start this session with a game of Cone Touch, getting your defenders use fast footwork to shadow the attacker and try to remain within arm's reach of them at all times, before progressing this drill to get your defenders working using their peripheral vision. After this we then continue to develop in defence, gradually moving towards more and more realistic and pressured scenarios, working on interceptions and finishing with a couple of defending in pairs games!

Marking the Space on Defence and Movement Skills
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
We start this space covering defence session with two classic school-yard warm up games before then getting your players to be more positive in defence, moving forward to force the fumble! The aim of this session is to get your team to mark the space (not the players) and attack the ball when they are on defence. By being positive when in defence your players can put pressure on the other team - moving around, in front and behind them to make to force the error or make the interception! To get your players to pounce like a panther we work on your players' movement and fast hand skills, with a quick review of basic handling before then practising driving onto the ball, reading the game and making the interception. To compound everything we cover in this session we then bring it all together in the final full-court conditioned game. Don't step back and invite the opposition to attack when your team is on the defensive! Take the game to them with this attacking-minded defending session!
Passing into Space
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
This week we've got a positive passing session for you and your team, including a dynamic running Warm Up you can easily integrate into your Pre-Match routine. After the varied running warm up (including some heel flicks, lunges and zig-zag running) we then get your players to practice their driving runs - moving at speed with open hands and heads up - looking to receive the pass in space and continue moving the ball up the court! Passing into space is an art that needs to be practised and practised in order to be perfected - your players will need to be able to read their team-mate's movement so that they pass the ball ahead of where they are going. Help your players to develop with this passing practice session and get the ball moving at speed!

To get your players engaged from the off this week we've selected 10 drills which you can use as fun pulse raisers with your team! Save these drills for a rainy day, use them to add some spice to your warm ups or even incorporate them into your pre-match routine... Perfecting the Lob Pass
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
This session is designed to help your players get out of a sticky situation and find the pass, even when all their passing options are being marked! When playing against a team that likes to get in front of your players to intercept the ball your players will need to learn how to make space behind the opposition's defenders to receive the ball from a lob pass. To help them do this this session covers all the bases for a successful lob pass - starting with a review of the technique in a pairs passing drill! The lob pass: a powerful and speedy pass, with a looping trajectory, designed to get the ball up n' over the opposition's defenders and give your players something to run onto! So put your best foot forward, push from the waist, accurately angle the ball up and over and teach your players when to use it in a match situation!

Shooting Form - Accuracy and Control
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
In this session we aim to improve and develop your players' shooting stance and technique, so that they're confident when shooting from a variety of points from within the D. To do this we start with the basics - making sure your players stand tall, with feet wide apart and arms above their head (we also have four very important words for your shooters to remember): To improve your players' accuracy and control when shooting, even when under pressure from a defender, we open this session with a pairs shooting exercise - where players must take their time and accurately shoot the ball to their partner. After this gentle introduction we then up the tempo, getting your players to shoot under pressure through a series of progressively more-match-like drills, allowing players to develop their technique before finishing with two fun group shooting games!

Changing Direction - fast and dynamic running
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
This high intensity running Session will get your players driving to meet the pass, using quick bursts of pace, fast changes of direction and stamina running - all essential ingredients for speedy netball. It's important to work on speed and stamina - you don't want your players to run out of steam in the first 10 minutes. That's why this session aims to get your players digging deep and working at pace throughout, to help them give 100% right until the final whistle! To ensure your players have the energy to see out the final vital minutes in their next game this session starts with a quick change of direction warm-up before progressing onto a touch the cone and then receive the pass, getting players to plant their foot and then push off to change direction before building up towards some more advanced cutting and running exercises.
Overhead Pass - Power Behind the pass
Private document: Supporter, Player, Parent, Club Member, Staff, Coach, Team Admin, Webmaster
In this session we look at how your players can quickly get the ball to a team-mate higher up the court - using the powerful Overhead Pass to get the ball over the opposition! A good overhead pass should have a quick, flat and straight flight. It's a basic pass so your players should be able to learn the technique quite quickly which is great as it gives your players a passing option that defenders will find hard to intercept! Strength is important but there's lots of little pointers that can make a big difference to this technique - from the bending back of your arms, the step into the pass or that final flick and follow through from your fingers! To help your players to develop their overhead passes we start with a quick technique review before then putting practice into play with a series of three fun and challenging games and drills - designed to get your players moving, timing their runs to catch the overhead pass and working hard!
Shooting Movement - Getting Closer to the Post!
This Session is one for your goal scorers, your GA and GS, as we work on improving attacking movement in the circle - getting players to lose their markers and move to the post to cut down the distance for the shot! The main philosophy for this session is to get your shooters to make life easy for themselves - when moving to lose their marker and receive the pass players should be thinking "How can I use my lead run to get closer to the post?" - making the shot as easy as possible. To improve lead running we start with a speed and agility pairs shooting exercise - designed to get your players warm and alive, while also giving them plenty of shooting practice. From this we then add defenders into the circle and see how effective your shooters are at making space (and how good your defenders are at cutting out the pass!)
