Cobras travelled to Warrington for a friendly and warm up for their cup quarter final next Sunday. Travelling with a full squad of 19, the coaches had options to give everyone a run out in a variety of positions
Culceth had only 12 players so Cobras lent them 2 players, callum bond and Dillon Cain stepping up

On a dismal day, and with very long grass to contend with, the cobras found it difficult to get full traction in the early stages but still went comfortably ahead with two tries from Haddley and one from Clegg before a Culceth try dampened the spirits a little

The coaches were making rolling substitutions to try and settle a 17 man squad for the next game and the emphasis was on 'play for your shirt'

Schofield and Low were making breaks but poor handling was preventing the hiding that should have been on the cards, indeed, as the frustration built, Cobras gave too many penalties away and were being pressed back towards their own try line far too often
Half time came with another round of substitutions and some words of wisdom from the coaches

A much better second half for the Cobras ensued

Tries from Schofield, Low, Whitworth and Haddley again saw the score stretch, with kicks from Coop and Haddley, a comfortable 34 point lead was opened up

To their credit, Culceth didn't roll over and kept coming, their No 10 was a strong runner and he managed to break a series of poor tackles to score a try late in the game

All in all, defence was not too bad from the locals, the weather can be a great leveller and they stuck to the task despite so many substitutions throughout the game.
This was a game where all the moves and set plays could be worked on but the opportunity wasn't taken fully

Some good individual performances: Tom Haddley scored 4 tries in all, Schofield and Low were strong throughout, Mellors is revelling in his new Loose Forward role, Tom Diggle and Joe Whitworth also played strongly in the back row, and Sean McAvoy was faultless at Full Back

Man of the match awards from the opposition coach went to Mellors, Low and McAvoy
