Rochdale Hockey Club, formally Heywood Hockey Club, is a Men's Field Hockey Club Based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The club wasoriginally formed in 1994 as Heywood Hockey Club from various members from other clubs in the Greater Manchester area. Over the next 6 years the club achieved successive promotions before merging with Cheatham Hill Hockey Club for 2 years before breaking away to reform Heywood Hockey Club.

In 2008 the club changed its name from Heywood Hockey Club to Rochdale Hockey Club due to the relocation of the club's training and matches from Jack Talbot Sports Centre (now Heywood Sports Village) to Oulder Hill High School.

In 2009 Rochdale Hockey club merged with Fearnes Ladies Hockey Club to introduce a ladies team to the club. The club now consists of both mens and ladies senior teams.

In the 2010/2011 season Rochdale Ladies enjoyed a very successful season culminating in promotion to Greater Manchester Hockey Association (Womens) DIvision 2 and winning the Greater Manchester Women's Cup Final.

During the Summer of 2011 Rochdale Hockey Club enjoyed a very successful time during which they won the Huddersfield Happiness Tour, MHCC Mixed Hockey Division 4 title and the inaugural Clitheroe Mixed Hockey tournament.

In the 2011/2012 season Rochdale Men finished in 4th position, ending the season as top goal scorers in North West Division 5 North and reached the Semi Final of the Lancahsire Trophy, while Rochdale Ladies retained their place in league 2.

During the Summer of 2012 Rochdale Hockey Club enjoyed a productive time finishing 2nd in MHCC Mixed Hockey Division 3, losing out to Tameside Hockey Club 2-1 in the final.

In the 2012/2013 season Rochdale Men finished 2nd in North West Division 4N and earning promotion to North West Division 3N, ending the season as second highest goal scorers and with the best defence while winning the Lancashire Plate in a tight final against Mossley Hill 1st team. Rochdale Ladies had a successful season finishing just outside the promotion places finishing 3rd in the Greater Manchester Women's Hockey League Division 2.
