The Donna Pickering Day begins at 11am on 3rd May with a Beach Party

This annual event is always hugely supported by Rochford members at Senior, Youth and Mini’s and provides a fun end to a long but enjoyable season.

Our newer members may not be so aware of the history behind the day and money that it raises for our local Cancer services.

Donna Pickering was a mother of 4 from Rayleigh whose husband Mark and children are all long standing members of Rochford Hundered RFC.

Donna was 47 years old when she lost her battle with lung and liver cancer in 2007, after only being diagnosed with cancer six months earlier.

Mark and her Father, Colin Reagan set up The Donna Pickering Cancer Trust to raise money to help other cancer sufferers and the family have since held various events over the years raising a large amount of money for Cancer Services at Southend Hospital.

The main event each year has always been the Donna Pickering Cup (the original idea) but it has developed into an annual event that has grown close to hearts of Rochford’s membership, raising between £3000 to £4000 each year.

There will be bouncy castles, Hogg roast, BBQ, various other stalls and with the rugby as follows:

11am - Mini Beach Party theme Fun training

1pm - Rochford v Westcliff (U16/U17)

3pm - Donna Pickering Cup (The Pink Sock Game. Donation of £10 per player – tends to be 2nd/3rd/4th team players plus any of the U17 that fancy some senior rugby. Emphasis is on fun)
