Rockingham Rugby Union Club
2012 Season
Welcome to Rockingham Junior Rugby Union Club 2012 Season. Rockingham is a junior rugby club located at Lark Hill Sports Complex. We welcome all families with a commitment to learn and play rugby and our aim is to make your involvement with Rockingham Club a positive experience.
The club is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Rockingham has a proud history of junior development, with two of our former players playing for the Western Force. The 2012 season we are looking to place teams in all age groups.
The junior section of the club is managed by a voluntary committee and you will meet many of them on registration day, club functions, and during the season at games or training. Please do not hesitate to ask who any of the committee is, we are here to help all.
Like any community based club the more help the better. The committee welcomes all parents who contribute any time or skills to the club. If you have talents, skills, any time and passion please contact Darren Crooks (0412 946 027) or your team manager now.
2012 Registration Days will be held on: 18 Feb and 10 March from 10am until 1pm. EFTPOS is available in the club.
First time players should bring a birth certificate, and or passport, a copy of this will be taken for RugbyWA records.
Join us in naming our club mascot this year (as seen above), all details in the clubhouse on registration day.
Registration fees for Rockingham Rugby Union Club include player insurance, RugbyWA team nomination, field allocation (Rockingham Council) shorts, socks and a club polo shirt. Costs in insurance and team nominations to RugbyWA have increased specifically over the last three years requiring an increase this year but we still believe that rugby fees remain competitive against other local sports. The club remains a non-profit organisation with all fees raised being directly spent against the development of junior rugby.
Fees are as follows:
U6 to U8 - $135 U9 to U16 - $195 2nd child $180 3rd child $150 4th child $free
Age groups work on calendar year so if your child turns 10 in 2012 for example, they should play in the Under 10 age group.
Parents note that in registering their child to play for Rockingham Rugby Union Club, they understand and accept and agree to abide by the ARU Code of Conduct, team selection, grading processes and parental involvement that is expected of all Rockingham Rugby Union Club families’.
Kidsports Program – It is likely that Rockingham Council will be part of the Kidsports program that will provide Financial Assistance for families that need assistance (upto 200 dollars per child) to families to pay for sporting fees. Please ask on registration day about this program (unfortunately the council will not know if the state government has accepted Rockingham until Feb 23rd).
Registration for players in Under 6 to Under 9 age groupsThere are no identification requirements in these age groups, and players can play up an age group depending on their size. Parents should, however, consider that when their child reaches the Under 10 age group, they may need to repeat a year at some stage depending on their size and skill.
Registration for players in Under 10 to Under 16 age groupsAll new players in these age groups are having conducted an identification check with either a birth certificate or passport, with a copy being taken for RugbyWA records. On registration day photos will also be taken of all children.
TrainingThe U6s through to U11s will generally train on Thursday afternoon from 5.00pm to 6.00pm at Lark Hill.
The U12s through to U16s will generally train Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons from 5.00pm to 6.00pm at Lark Hill.
Competition times and commencement
The U6s-U10s age groups will be involved in a Southern Area round home and away carnivals. All games commence on Saturday mornings and will be confirmed at Training. Details of fixtures will be released on the Rugby WA website (http://www.rugbywa.com.au/GrassrootsRugby/JuniorRugby.aspx)
The U11s and above age groups generally play all games at Britannia Park Leederville, unless a home carnival is organised.
Round 1 for the season is planned to commence 28th April 2012.
So how can you help?
• Offer your time, experience skills and join the committee. We need as many hands as possible!
• Assist your coaches and managers at training such as assistant coach, first aid, ball boy etc
• Help at games, such as linesman, referee.
• Create weekly newsletter stories.
• Assist with special events and fundraising activities.
• Help setup fields.
• Help in the canteen.
Team managers will allocate duties to parents at the beginning of the season and on an ad hoc basis during the season.
Parental and Spectator Behaviour
Junior rugby union can be exciting for parents and spectators. Rockingham Club focuses very much on the game being played for the enjoyment of the children. During the game the team coach and manager are in control of the team.
Rockingham request that all parents and spectators adhere to the ARU Code of Conduct as we aim to represent an exemplary level of behaviour at all times. Breaches will be reported by team managers and coaches to the club committee for disciplinary action. This is critical to the club as breaches of the ARU Code of Conduct (http://www.rugby.com.au/tryrugby/Administration/CodeofConduct.aspx) are not only against Club philosophy, but generally result from further action from RugbyWA.
