Tim Grice struck twice and Adam Roberts netted a debut goal as Romulus went down 3-0 at play off chasers Leek Town.
The game started evenly with both sides making chances but the first goal proved crucial as the hosts finished the game off before the break.
Glyn Mellor volleyed over at the back post for Leek following a deep free kick, up the other end James Reid was denied by a smart save from Ben Chapman.
A fine Charisma Agbonlahor cross was put over the top by Nathan Demonte after Reid had won possession.
The bright start from Romulus was un-done in simple circumstances, Tim Sanders long ball over the top found Grice who lobbed the advancing Lee Evans to open the scoring.
One became two ten minutes later when the ball wasn’t cleared and Grice picked his spot across the keeper into the far corner.
Back came Romulus with Reid doing well down the right hand side, his cross found Gavin Day but the ball again was off target.
Six minutes before the break it was game over, fine link up play involving the impressive Matt Haddrell and Roberts led to the Macclesfield loanee slipping the ball past Evans.
Roms made a double switch at the break and approached the second period postiviely taking the game to the home side, Ashley Jackson denied by Chapman after a neat run down the left hand side.
Nathan Blissett was causing problems with aerial balls into the box with Romulus looking for a route back into the game but the home sides defence held firm.
Jackson cleared the cross bar after cleverly beating two players and as the clock hit 90 minutes Reid was denied yet again when Chapman blocked with hi feet.
The result leaves Leek well placed for a play off place with Romulus still needing points to ease relegation worries.
Roms are without a game on Saturday before travelling to Coalville Town next Saturday.
