2nd XV - Report
Date: Saturday 31st March 2012 - Kick Off: 15:00
The University of Salford 'NWL' - Division 1
| Rossendale 2 | 40 | vs | 14 | Kendal 2 |
Rossendale 2nd XV 40 - 14 Kendal 2nd XV
Today was a crucial game in Rossendale's survival in division 1.
Kendal who turned over a 30+ point victory at home were to face a much stiffer test today.
The game started dominated by the visitors posting a try in the opening minute of the game. Penalties hampered Dale and set them another 3points back almost immediately. However once the home side established some territory they demolished the opposing scrum and put themselves back in front with two penalty tries, converted by fly half Adam Wagstaff. Centre nathan settle true to current form also danced his way in for a try under the posts to send Dale in leading 21- 8 at half time.
Now with the slope and a very dominant pack Dale were to kick off the second half. The free flowing nature of this half was to see the home side keep the ball alive at every opportunity! Kendal hit back capatolising on penalties given away by the home side in front of the sticks however this was not enough for the visitors as Rossendale ran in two well worked converted tries by centre nathan settle and winger Mike Bell and an uncovered score by second row Pete Wright.
An older team than previous weeks proved that they were definitely good enough to stay in this league.
Next weekend we have Leigh on the Saturday and Macclesfield on the Monday so rest up!
