YOUTH SHELTER AT ROSSENDALE UNITED HELPS REDUCE CRIME

A youth shelter, installed on land donated by Rossendale United, has helped reduce crime in the Staghills area of Newchurch. It was opened in August 2006 to provide a place for young people to socialise and has since succeeded in almost halving incidents of youth related crime and anti-social behaviour.
Funding for the project came from Rossendale's Community Safety Partnership, Lancashire Partnership Against Crime and the High Sherrif of Lancashire's Crimebeat Fund. Rossendale shelter manufacturer Euroshell provided the top of the range weatherproof shelter and donations were also made by local companies B & E Boys and Fielden Factors.
Steve Hobson, Rossendale United Chairman, said " It's really important that the club takes every opportunity it can to cement links with the local community so I was keen to get involved. I'm delighted it's proved such a success and improved the quality of life for local people".
