Main Link with Rovers

We are delighted to announce that Main and Doncaster Rovers have forged a connection that will see us move forward in our recent progression and also hep Rovers in the progression of developing local youngsters.

Some major negotiations between the clubs have taken place over the recent weeks and much credit must go to all concerned.

Below is the press release

Club Doncaster Foundation Academy is delighted to announce a new partnership with Rossington Main FC. Rossington currently play within the Northern Counties Division One, and they have partnered with the Foundation to offer progression and player development for our current students and players within the Foundation Academy.
Club Doncaster Foundation Academy Coordinator, Sam Parkin had to say, “Being able to work with such a well-established local club like Rossington is fantastic! It is a great way for our academy players to continue to develop their skills playing for the Foundation mid week and Rossington on a Saturday representing Rossington in either their U19’s with long-term aspirations of students representing the first team as part of their development programme”.
Five of our current academy players are trialling for the club with the hope of them signing in the next few weeks.
Steve Brennen, Rossington 1st Team Manager added “this is a great opportunity for the club to link to a well-structured academy set up, at a professional club. It is a huge step forward for our Development Plan and will see some of the best young players in the local area getting the chance to play on our first team pitch in an U19 set up with a view of progressing up the football ladder. ”
Carl Stokes, Rossington's Chairman, The committee and I are absolutely delighted for Our club to be linked with Doncaster Rovers FC. As a community based club we feel it is our duty to help with the development of talented local players and this link goes a long way to doing this.
I'm sure this announcement will excite an awful lot of people around our local area especially the Donny Rovers fans throughout the village, let's hope we can treat them to another successful pre season friendly against Rovers.
A special thank you to Sam and Steve for all the hard work behind the scenes to make this all possible.
