RSRFC S1/2 travelled to Thurso to play Caithness on Sunday the 10th March to play on a Sunny but chilly afternoon. It was an evenly contested match with both sides strong in attack and defence. Ross got the early breakthrough in the first half with two tries from Angus Mohun
. Caithness fought back to narrow the deficit but with a quick break by the backs, Ross added their third try which was scored by No. 8 Fergus Farrell
. Just before half-time, Full back Angus Mohun
scored his third try of the day giving Ross the boost they needed and a well earned break.
In the second half both teams showed good commitment towards the game but sloppy passing and a few missed tackles resulted in tries for Caithness. Debutant, Mitchell McSpadden
proved to be a real threat towards Caithness by bursting through the line on several occasions and showing great determination & fighting spirit. Ross added two more tries from quick tap penalties scored by Liam Troxler
and another from Fergus Farrell
. To complete RSRFC’s day, another two tries were added scored by Forwards, Jordan McDonald
and Rory Burnside
. Caithness fought back to score the final try of the day as they broke through a tired Ross defence. The final whistle signalled the end of the match with a well deserved 46-34 win for Ross.
