U16s secure the league title with hard-fought win over Nairn
With only 1 league game remaining, our U16s have secured the League Title and maintained their 100% record.
On a cold day in Invergordon a couple of dozen spectators turned up for some festive cheer and were rewarded with an engrossing game of rugby.
In 5 minutes Alan Bregazzi continued his fine scoring form with a well worked try. The wind made for tricky kicking conditions and Jake Geddis was unsuccessful with his conversion attempt. Glen Torrance was having a good start to the game but was unlucky to pick up an injury which forced a substitution with Connor Sinclair. The next score came courtesy of Cameron Munro who picked up 10 metres out and ran in a fine try.
HT 10-0
The second half started brightly and on 42 minutes Finlay Foulis scored a try in typical fashion, securing the ball and rampaging through the opposition defence. On 50 minutes Joe Eaglesham scored a try reminiscent of the one he scored last week with strong running to evade the Nairn defence. This time he scored for the right team though !! Jake converted from in front of the posts to make the score 22-0. Five minutes later and it was Tom Bannerman's turn to add to the tally with another fine forward's try.
Nairn weren't giving up at all and the scoreline didn't reflect their efforts. 2 tries and a conversion in a 5 minute spell brought the score back to 27-12. The second try was the best of the game with their left winger finally getting the ball in space and he showed a great turn of speed to outstrip the Ross defence and run through to score from inside his own half.
With the last play of the game Joe Eaglesham scored another good try to bring the final score to 32-12.
100% league record maintained and League title secured.
Another tough encounter with Nairn and huge thanks to them for coming through, and to their players for a good game.
