U16s achieve perfect league record
100% success as U16s complete their league campaign.
Our Under-16 Team completed their league campaign with a 43-0 victory at Caithness last Sunday (3rd); maintaining their 100% win rate.
Having already secured the Caledonia U16 League Division 2 title with a 32-12 win over Nairn just before Christmas, there were concerns the long winter lay-off would have an effect but that was quickly dispelled. Caithness were short of a few players but some of our lads stepped in to even up the sides.
After the first score it was clear we would dominate the game, and so it proved with tries for Joe Eaglesham, Connor Sinclair, Henry Pearce, Ross Gordon, Andrew Mackay, Finlay Foulis and Calum Sangster. In the absence of top scorer Jake Geddis, kicking duty fell to Henry Pearce who slotted over 4 conversions from 7 attempts.
2012 has been a happy year for this team – winning the Caledonia Bowl competition last April and securing the league in December. It’s a fantastic achievement for the boys and they deserve their success. Going the whole league season winning every game is a remarkable feat for any team.
The team are on Caledonia Cup duty next week with a long trip south to play either Kirkcaldy or Howe of Fife in the 1st round.
