Edward Murray -John chosen to play for Caledonia U16s

This time last year we were celebrating Jake Henry and Rory Burnside making the Caledonia U16 squad, and then going on to star in the Scotland team.

Now it's Edward Murray-John's turn to shine, having been selected to play for Caledonia U16s.

Getting to the squad is a huge achievement in itself and there is only one other player in the north to make the grade. And having players make the regional squad in successive seasons is also a huge achievement for the club.

Gareth Davies, club U16 coach, said "I'm delighted for Edward as is everyone else at the club. He's done tremendously well to reach this stage and the coaching and support he'll receive will really help him grow as a player."

"My message to the other players who didn't make the squad is to stick at the training and learn as much as you can from the regional Academy coaches. If you keep improving your chance could come again."

The recent success of Ross youngsters is no fluke.

"What we're seeing" said club President John Scott " is the result of an initiative
put in place a few years ago which changed the way we invested in our players and coaches. We have a better structure in place which helps us develop our players and promote them as candidates for the regional Academy."

"We are always looking for continuous improvement and the fact we have recently put 8 coaches through their UKCC Level 1 qualification and 4 through the Level 2 is a sign of our commitment to develop our coaches for their benefit and that of the players."
