Another successful festival in the bag

Well, the sun shone and the rain stayed away and we all had a great time last Sunday.

Firstly thanks to everyone who put in all the effort to makesure the day went to plan, and to all the coaches, kids, and parents from all the clubs who helped make it such a success.

With almost 200 boys and girls playing on the day, and with friends and family swelling the numbers to almost 300 there was a great atmosphere as the kids put on tremendous displays of rugby.

The big winners on the day were Caithness RFC and Nairn Thunderbolts.

In the Primary 4-5 Section Nairn Thunderbolts won with 5 wins and a draw from their 6 games, and were also awarded the Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) trophy for the most sporting display by players, coaches, and supporters. Moray B were awarded the PCS trophy for P6/7 age group.

Caithness A won the Primary 6-7 section with 5 wins and a draw, and had the best players of the tournament in both age groups: Joe Anderson in P4/5 and Conner Miller in P6/7.

Everywhere I went people were asking if I'd seen Conner Miller play and he's certainly a future star.

Medals were also awarded to the best player, and most improved player in every team at the festival, and it was nice to see as many girls getting medals as boys.

Our event is the start of the annual round of rugby festivals in the Highlands and everyone thought it was a great success.

The Nairn coaches said that ours is their favourite festival to come to; they really like the way its run and it’s always a friendly occasion. Of course the fact that they won made it an even better day for them.

You could see that all the kids were just delighted and thats what gives them and all the coaches great encouragement to keep turning up for training and enjoying themselves.

Thanks again everyone for making it a great day.
