Rotherham Clifton take on Marist, at home on Herringthorpe Playing Fields, this weekend in Yorkshire 5.
Clifton have played Marist on seven previous occasions over the last 13 years. Marist have won five of the seven previous meetings, with Clifton claiming victory on the other two occasions. Interestingly, Cliftons two victories over the Hull side have both come at home.
When the two sides met earlier this season, Marist claimed a winning bonus point from the game, with the score finishing 24-7. Although the home side looked to have won comfortably, the game as a whole was pretty close and major errors by Clifton cost them dearly.
A full list of results between the two sides can be seen below:
27th Nov 1999 – Rotherham Clifton 36-0 Marist
15th Apr 2000 - Marist 35-0 Rotherham Clifton
30th Sept 2000 - Rotherham Clifton 15-5 Marist
24th Feb 2001 - Marist 81-0 Rotherham Clifton
16th Feb 2002 - Marist 46-0 Rotherham Clifton
6th April 2002 – Rotherham Clifton 0-43 Marist
12th Nov 2011 - Marist 24-7 Rotherham Clifton
Both sides have not played for the last two weeks, with all Yorkshire 5 games being called off due to the weather. Which means that both teams will be chomping at the bit to get back in action this weekend.
Clifton currently sit in sixth place in the league and after a controlled victory over Wensleydale in their last outing, they will be looking to push on and cement their position in the top half of the table.
Marist travelled to Stocksbirdge in their last outing and claimed a narrow 15-5 victory over their fellow promotion contenders. Having being relegated from Yorkshire 4 last season, they currently sit in second place and will be looking to bounce straight back up.
Rotherham Clifton would like to give the Marist players, officials and spectators, a warm welcome for Saturday and we look forward to what should be a competitive fixture.
